Skin Pigmentation Laser Treatments
A non-invasive laser treatment to fade dark spots and even skin tone.
What are Skin Pigmentation Laser Treatments?
Our skin pigmentation treatment offers a powerful, non-invasive solution for visibly improving uneven skin tone, age spots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation—achieving brighter, more youthful-looking skin with quick, safe results. This highly advanced ND Yag Q-Switch laser technology, makes it effective on all skin types and ideal for facial pigmentation, sun-damaged skin, and challenging body areas.
How it Works
The laser emits controlled pulses of light that target and break down excess melanin in pigmented skin cells. The laser heats and fragments the pigment, which your body naturally eliminates, stimulating the healing process for clearer, healthier skin. Treatments are suitable for all ages and skin tones and can be tailored for the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas impacted by pigmentation issues
What to Expect
Sessions last from 5 to 30 minutes, depending on treatment area size and your unique skin needs. Before starting, a patch test ensures comfort and suitability, and most clients find the procedure virtually painless, experiencing only a mild warming sensation. A personalised plan is created to meet your goals, with clients often requiring multiple sessions for optimal, long-lasting results.
Pre‑Treatment Preparation (Before Your Appointment)
Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment as tanned skin increases risk and can affect laser accuracy.
Skincare: Discontinue retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs), and strong actives for 5–7 days before your appointment.
Clean Skin: Arrive with clean, makeup‑free skin. Do not apply lotions, creams, or SPF to the treatment area immediately before.
Hydration: Keep skin hydrated and well moisturised in the lead‑up to your session.
Follow‑Up Appointments
Multiple sessions spaced 4-6 weeks may be required, particularly for stubborn or deep pigmentation. Melasma typically requires several treatments for significant improvement. Hormonal influences and sun exposure affect melasma recurrence rates. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne may need multiple sessions.
Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6-12 months to prevent pigmentation recurrence
Our Process
-

Consultation
Each treatment begins with a detailed consultation.
During this session we:
• Review your medical history, existing skin concerns, medications and prior treatments.
• Assess your pigmentation type and goals.
• Answer your questions and confirm whether laser treatment is the right option for you. -

Allergy Test
A patch test or test spot is performed prior to full treatment to assess your individual skin response and ensure suitable laser settings. This is usually done 48–72 hours before treatment and helps reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
-

Day of Treatment
• Written Consent: You’ll complete consent forms and our specialist will review your skin one final time.
• Numbing (if needed): A topical anaesthetic may be applied to maximise your comfort.
• Protective Gear: Protective eye shields are provided for safety.
• Laser Session: The laser is gently passed over the pigmented areas. Energy targets melanin to break down pigment without harming surrounding tissue.Sensations: Many clients feel a warm tingling or light snapping sensation during treatment.
-

Post-treatment
Immediate:
• You may have mild redness, warmth, or slight swelling immediately after the session. This is normal and usually settles within a day or two.
• Some spots may initially darken and can appear more pronounced before fading as pigment breaks down.
• Pinpoint bleeding may occur, particularly over thin-skinned areas. This resolves within 3-5 days without intervention. Immediate cooling with ice packs wrapped in soft cloth reduces both swelling and discomfort.

-
This treatment can effectively improve the look of:
Age spots / sun spots
Freckles
Liver spots
Uneven pigmentation and sun damage
Certain types of melasma (case-by-case, with consultation)
-
Laser is popular because it:
Targets stubborn dark spots and hyperpigmentation effectively
Is safe and gentle, with most clients feeling only mild heat or light discomfort
Delivers fast results, with many noticing improvements after the first session
Has minimal downtime for most people
Helps reduce visible signs of skin ageing, leaving skin looking smoother, clearer, and more youthful
-
It’s generally very tolerable. Most clients describe a sensation of heat or light, sharp taps during the session.
-
It depends on the type and depth of pigment:
Sun spots / age spots often improve in 1–2 sessions
Melasma typically needs 2–3 sessions, sometimes with annual maintenance
Your treatment plan will be confirmed during a consultation and patch test.
-
Many clients notice visible brightening and spot fading after the first session, with results continuing to improve as the skin heals and renews over the following weeks.
-
Downtime is usually minimal, but you may experience:
Redness for up to 24 hours
The treated area may darken and form a light “crust” for 7–14 days, then naturally flakes off
(Do not pick — let it shed naturally for the best result.)
-
For best results and safer treatment:
Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks before your appointment
Stop active skincare (e.g. retinol, vitamin C, AHAs) for 5–7 days before treatment
Arrive with clean skin (no fake tan, bronzer, or heavy actives)
-
Yes — when performed correctly and with the right aftercare, it’s considered a safe, effective treatment for pigmentation. Following strict sun avoidance and SPF is essential for best results.
-
Pigmentation laser treatment is not suitable if you are:
Pregnant
Tanned or have recent sunburn
Unable to avoid sun exposure and commit to aftercare
A consultation will confirm suitability for your skin type and pigmentation concern.
-
Treated spots usually do not return, but new pigmentation can form if skin is exposed to UV without protection. Daily SPF and good sun habits are key to maintaining results.
-
The most common risk is temporary hyperpigmentation (darkening). More rarely, hypopigmentation (lightening/whitening) can occur — especially in darker skin tones or if aftercare isn’t followed.
-
Sun Protection: Consistent use of broad‑spectrum SPF 30–50+ sunscreen is essential every day to protect treated skin and prevent new pigmentation.
Gentle Skincare: Use mild, fragrance‑free cleansers and moisturisers. Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours if possible
Avoid Heat & Irritation: Do not use hot showers, saunas, intense exercise, or active skincare ingredients (AHAs/BHAs, retinoids) for several days after treatment.
Do Not Pick: Let any peeling or flaking occur naturally. Picking can lead to scarring or unwanted pigmentation.
Results develop over 4-8 weeks as your body continues eliminating fragmented pigment
